If you have never fished with a custom tied leader you may be in for a big surprise! Leaders need to do many things during the cast. All of my leaders are hand tied by me and only me. I use three different materials; stiff in the butt section, a little more limber through the mid section, and limp and supple through the tippet section. Available in many different length and strength configurations and sold in packs of three, O’Neill’s Fly Fishing has a leader formula to fit your needs. Lengths are approximate, if ordering a leader with Shock Tippet, please specify breaking strength.
